About Isra University Hospital
This 300-bed unit integrates the most modern facilities at general and sub-specialty levels under one roof. It has well-equipped clinics in medicine, surgery, ENT, eye, Pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, cardiology, and dentistry. These clinics are well supported by diagnostic equipment, pathology laboratory, pharmacy, private, semi-private and general wards, and provides for day -care surgery.
There are many services that deserve special mention. For instance, the band ligation facility to control gastric bleeding, removal of gall stones through endoscopy, the eye-care services, among others, cover anterior segment, cornea, refractive, vitreo-retinal, squint, orbit and occuplastic surgeries, and pediatric ophthalmology. Some of the services that may not be available elsewhere in Hyderabad, such as pacemaker insertion, stress echocardiography, open-heart surgery, mitral valve replacement, intrauterine insemination and fetal medicine are exclusively provided in this hospital. Renal dialysis unit with a facility for renal transplant are also available in the Hospital.
The Hospital has four operation theaters equipped with state-of-the-art surgical and monitoring facilities. Isra University Hospital (IUH) is three story building having covered area of 33,228 sq ft. It prides in integrating the most modern facilities at general and sub-specialist levels under one roof for convenience of patients. Well-equipped clinics, diagnostic equipment, pathological labouratory, day-care surgery, optical shop, pharmacy, computerized record keeping and private, semi private and general wards. IUH occupies four operation theaters equipped with state-of-art-the surgical and monitoring facilities that are supported by a superb recovery room facility equipped with high-tech monitoring, central suction and oxygen delivery services.
Reception
All the information and guidance regarding the appointments, billing, patient record filing, OT reservation, admission and discharge, can be collected from the information desk.
Waiting Areas
There are separate waiting areas for the different departments such as eye and ENT OPD, general medicine and general surgery OPD, pediatrics, and gynae and obstetrics OPD.
Emergency Area
Fully equipped minor O.T room, advanced resuscitation trolley with defibrillator, monitors for critical patients, isolated double fowler beds, electric nebuliser, suction machine and central oxygen with re-breathing bags, plaster room, and 3 holding beds. It provides 24 hour emergency service.
Cardiac Care Unit (CCU)
Four rooms fully equipped with routine as well as intensive monitoring facilities. It has state-of-the-art ventilator for critically ill to support their special ventilation requirement.
Diagnostic Services
Advanced X-ray, ultrasound and clinical laboratory equipment are available to provide desired services at par with international standards.
Clinical Pathology Lab
Beside other, following pathology facilities are also available:
centrifuge machine, electrolyte analyzer, incubator, water bath, electric oven, vita lab micro (MERCK), refrigerator, TMX Blood Cell Analyzer (Abbot), Microtome Erma, refractometer, micropipettes, glass ware, chemicals and kits for biochemical and enzyme test.
Blood Bank
All types of the blood group are available round the clock.
In Patient Department
Presently the Hospital has general, semiprivate and private wards.
General Ward
There are separate male and female wards. The facilities provided in the wards are unparalleled by any other in Hyderabad city. Each ward is divided into blocks that accommodate four to six patients.
Semi-Private Ward
Two patients share the same room with attached common bathroom. The room is air-conditioned. One attendant is allowed with each patient.
Private Ward
Isolated single room with attached bathroom is provided along with a bed for attendant. The room is air-conditioned. A separate wardrobe is also available in this room.
Operation Theater (OT) Services
OT suite is located on the top floor of the building accessible through stairs and lift. There are 4 main and 2 minor OT rooms. Surgeon’s wash area is attached to each OT room. All rooms are provided with central medical gas supply and connected with lecture room through closed circuit TV (CCTV). It has big reception and separate changing room for males and females.
Most sophisticated equipment for anesthesia and monitoring including life saving machine for cardiac arrest and crash trolley is available to deal with any emergency if and when arises. The Hospital has highly qualified anesthesiologists who worked in UK and Middle East for years on modern equipment.
Auxillary O.T. Service
Central Gases Station: Having 20 big oxygen cylinder connected with manifold regulators (UK). It has also oxygen concentrating machine. Additionally it has medical air cylinders and nitrous oxide gas cylinders.
CCSD: Double chamber, heavy duty autoclaves with special dual groups. It has also pressure water pump as well as sealing machine.
Maintenance & Services Department
The Hospital and Campus upkeep and maintenance is responsibility of Maintenance & Services Department (MSD). The Department looks after landscaping, general cleanliness of compound and in house hygiene, provides round the clock security cover and ensures uninterrupted flow of the essential utilities and services like power, communication, water, drainage etc.
Support Services
Optical Shop
It stocks frames and glasses of all types and various makes. Trained staff attends the shop. It is equipped to cater for medical prescriptions of any type including progressive lenses, contact lenses etc.
Medical Store
The store stocks a wide range of surgical supplies and drugs, specially the ones, commonly prescribed by the physicians and surgeons of the Hospital. The shop is open round the clock to cater for any emergency requirements. The drugs are normally purchased directly from the manufactures to ensure quality.
Canteen and Catering Service
Canteen has capacity of 100 persons at a time. It provides 24-hour service on subsidized rates. It caters for the faculty, students, staff, patients and visitors and offers regular meals, snacks, soft drinks, and tea and coffee. Besides this there are kiosks located in the arcade of academic block that serves snacks and soft drinks.
Transport & Facility
The fact that the Hospital is located on national highway, public transport, from various locations in the city and up-country, is frequently available. Besides this the Hospital operates transports on subsidized rates on fixed routes between 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Hospital has its own transport fleet comprising mobile dispensary, ambulances, cars, vans and a bus.
Power Generation Plant
The Campus has WAPDA substation having 750 kVA transformer and a standby power generator of 210 kVA. The Hospital is connected to these facilities through elaborate underground network of cables.
Faculty and Staff
Highly qualified and experienced professorial staff of Isra University supervises clinical departments of the Hospital. In addition, each department has associate and assistant professors, and well-trained medical officers. Our graduates have already started house job in fields of Medicine & Allied disciplines and Surgery & Allied disciplines.
College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has approved the Hospital for postgraduate training of MCPS and FCPS candidates.
General Nursing Staff
In general, scarcity of well-qualified nursing staff is felt all over the Country. Presently, the Hospital employs nurses trained by others. However, the Hospital has launched Isra School of Nursing on the Campus that trains the nurses in accordance with the guidelines of Pakistan Nursing Council. It is expected that within one year the School will be in a position to raise objectively oriented work force to serve the Hospital.
Paramedical Staff
Similar situation prevails in case of paramedical staff. The Hospital has launched Isra School of Paramedics for the express purpose of raising well-trained work force to meet the in-house demand of care and competence.

Hospital Library stocks textbooks, reference works, and nationally and internationally published scientific journals to meet the needs of student and faculty. An essential factor in maintaining high quality service by a library is the on-line internet facility. Continuous Medical Education (CME)
A seminar room connected to all the operating rooms via closed circuit television to provide un-interrupted access to the surgical procedures performed by experts is available for the purpose. The resident staff and student learn the procedures through video contact and by way of interactive audio discussion.
Resources
The resource center has state-of-the art audio-visual equipment including overhead, slide, and multimedia projectors. An order for two Hemodialysis machines and reverse osmosis water treatment plant is already placed.
Endocrinology
Hundreds of patients are seen free in diabetes clinic every week. The objective is to educate the patients about the disease, benefits of long-term glucose control, prevention and early recognition of chronic complications of diabetes.
Psychiatry
In addition to general adult psychiatry, youths and children are also evaluated for problematic behaviors, and offered management, including parental counseling. In view of growing hazards of drug dependence. The Hospital offers counseling and detoxification of drug users.

Department of Pediatrics
Introduction

Neonatology is a highly sophisticated subspecialty of pediatrics. The department of pediatrics at Isra University Hospital offers facilities at general and sub-specialty levels, which are supported by highly qualified trained and experienced staff, modern diagnostic facilities and latest equipments.
Out Patient Department
The out patient facility is outfitted with all the necessary means to provide relief for the day-to day problems pertaining to pediatrics. All clinics are supervised by consultant pediatricians and neonatologists. All these clinics are furnished with necessary instruments for examination of pediatric patients. Besides these clinics, following specialty clinics are also operational.
Asthma Clinic

Child Development Centre
It is a new concept in the Country. It provides learning facilities as well as treatment for children with learning difficulties. Child development center has physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists as well as educational psychologist working together with the pediatricians to help these children.
Immunization Center
The Center provides immunization facilities to neonates and children according to EPI program. New vaccines are also available with proper maintenance of cold chain to maintain total vaccine efficacy.
ORT Corner
Oral Rehydration Therapy Clinic runs in conjunction with OPD's to help the parents on preparation of ORS solution and its proper use.
Neonatal Unit
This is a highly advanced unit equipped with modern, sophisticated and latest equipment like mechanical ventilator, incubators, controlled phototherapy units, controlled radiant warmers and pulse oximeter. Neonatal unit of Isra University Hospital has intensive care unit, and a high dependency unit. Presently it is the only pediatric unit in Hyderabad and interior Sindh, which has mechanical ventilator for neonates and children. Neonatal Resuscitation

Department of Gynae & Obstetrics
Introduction
The field of obstetrics and gynaecology is undergoing tremendous advancements and is further divided into sub-specialties. Out Patient Department
Obstetrics and gynaecological clinics are run by different consultants on week days, except Sundays. These clinics are equipped with most modern gadgets.
Sub-Specialty Clinics
Fetal Medicine: This clinic is conducted on Wednesdays from 9:00 am till 01:00 pm. It provides diagnostic as well as therapeutic service. Highly sophisticated procedures of chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis and amnio-infusion are performed.
Infertility Clinic
It is conducted on Fridays from 9:00am till 4:00pm. It provides standard diagnostic and therapeutic services and special services of Assisted Reproduction. Day Care Surgery
